NDT JOURNEY AT A GLANCE

Celebrating our Footprints 1987 - 2019

Brief History of Namibia Development Trust (NDT)

The unique formation history of the NDT, The organisation was formally registered as a trust on the 21st March 1989, just a year before
the independence of Namibia..

The Alliance between workers, students and church leaders was evident. Is the same alliance needed today as Namibia gears up for economic emancipation?

NDT FOUNDED IN 1987 BY PROMINENT, POLITICAL, SPIRITUAL LEADERS, HUMAN RIGHTS LAWYERS, TRADE UNIONISTS & STUDENTS ACTIVISTS.

Where is NDT housed (the story behind the location of its offices)

The building which serves as the offices of the NDT in Windhoek at some stage used to be the house of Hon. Dirk Mudge. Knowing the conflicting role(s) the founding trustees and Dirk Mudge were playing at the time in the history of Namibia and particularly during the struggle for independence.

VETERAN retired politician Dirk Mudge (center) seen by some  as having collaborated with the Apartheid regime at the time.  Some people in Namibia attribute Dirk Mudge and the party he founded (DTA) as the ones that laid the foundation for a multi-party, multi - point of view in Namibia.

Stable management and leadership.

The organisation has relatively speaking enjoyed stable leadership. This is despite the fact that the organisation like any other had its lows and highs. The stable leadership has been primarily influential in ensuring stability and predictability of the organisation. For example over the more then 30 years the organisation had three Executive Directors:
